I’m all about educational games on phones and tablets. We have several different educational apps. If it makes my drive or waiting in the doctor’s office that much easier, I’m all for it.
When I was given the chance to review the Smarty Preschool Adventure App, I was super excited! So excited that I skipped over the part that it’s only for iPad use. Luckily, a close friend of mine, let me borrow their tablet so I’d be able to fulfill my review opportunity. This app was designed by a mom, who had developed educational applications for last three years. I am all about supporting small-mom-business owners!
This was perfect timing for me as well. My husband and I decided to pull our daughter, Haleigh (3), out of the preschool for this year. My son, Owen’s, Kindergarten teacher made me realize that in a 3’s program for preschool it’s about socializing more than anything. Sure they learn stuff too, but I can swing play dates and teach her myself. I have a lot who are homeschooling their preschoolers and I felt compelled to do the same. I even have a friend who has a nanny who helps with homeschooling her children while she is at work. It’s an amazing thing too, having a live-in babysitter who can help to teach her children math while she is working. I did ask my friend if she was worried about the cost, however, she explained that the nanny has access to her international credit report so she doesn’t have to rely solely on the income gained from their homeschooling. She was studying to become a teacher and had financial aid, homeschooling was more a side job to help her while she studied.
I know there are a lot of great preschools out there, a friend of mine was telling me about this preschool in oakley ca, but she’s my baby, our last one, so I want to cherish these moments I have as long as I can.
Smarty Preschool Adventure App is targeted for preschoolers+. The app focuses on four categories: shapes, colors, numbers and counting. All things I’ve been teaching Haleigh. The instructions are easy to understand.
The colors are great and bright, it has interactive loading screens, and a great reward that is fun for the kids. Another feature I like is when there is an option for multiple users. Haleigh likes this game more than the boys, but Owen does play, so it’s nice that he has his own user ID.
