DIY: Ombre Blend Necklace | mommytime365

Whether you’re on a weight-loss program or attempting a Pinterest idea, there’s nothing better than the triumphant feeling you get once you realize “did I nail this? I TOTALLY NAILED THIS“. Last weekend I had this type of moment. I’ve been wanting to attempt homemade jewelry for a while, but didn’t know where to begin. That’s when I saw a pin of an Ombre Blend Necklace in Aquamarine. I was drawn to this necklace, because I love long necklaces and my latest favorite color has been aquamarine. The pin lead me to a website House of Gems. They sell wholesale beads and jewelry making supplies. With their help I was able to recreate this project, and you can too.

First when I got the beads I was super sick, and I really wanted to create a YouTube video capturing my craftiness, but I had no voice. Turns out I had to also start over this project three times too.. I accidentally forgot one spacer in the middle, and then I accidentally cut the wrong wire. Oops! Talk about bloopers.

I had my trusty sidekick Wyatt to help with placing the spacers on my last run. We had such a great time creating this piece of jewelry. I am hooked!!

I couldn’t be happier with the way my Ombre Blend Necklace turned out (not bad for my first project). I absolutely love it and I’m not just saying that because I made it.

House of Gems - Ombre Necklace

If you want to recreate this Ombre Blend Necklace, you can find the beads by clicking HERE.  They also have an extensive tutorial library chock full of amazing tutorials in nearly every form of jewelry design.

Here is the exact list of items I used from The House of Gems, click on the link to go directly to the item on their site:

1 Wire Cutters

1 Bead Crimping Pliers

1 Sterling Silver 2mm crimp beads

3 Sterling silver trigger clasp, 8mm

1 Glass Beads Dark Blue Round, 10mm quartz

1 Glass beads 6mm, Rondelle faceted, sapphire color

1 Glass beads, rondelle, faceted, 2.5mm, clear

1 Chinese Crystal Bicone Blue AB 3mm

1 Base metal silver tone plain round spacer bead, 2mm

1 Natural multi color aquamarine beads smooth oval shape, 7mm wide, 10mm long

1 Aquamarine beads smooth oval 6mm wide, 9mm long

1 Grey Bead Design Board

1 Soft Touch Beading Wire, Stainless Steel, Nylon Coated, 30ft

I’m going to be practicing more and will be eventually creating my own tutorials, this is a goal of mine for 2015.

Do you make your own jewelry? If so, I’d love to see what you’ve made. Feel free to post comments/pictures to share your “I nailed it” moments.

  28. I love this necklace, probably because I have a slight ombre addiction, haha. So your necklace layout kit is amazing, and now I see how *real* people make *real* looking jewelry, this is much less intimidating!

Thanks for sharing it with us. 🙂
