Cherry-Cranberry Sauce

I found this recipe for Cherry-Cranberry Sauce, back in the 2008 Pillsbury Classic Cookbook #329, and it became our family’s favorite holiday side dish. It’s low fat and the kids love it. I’m always asked about the recipe and it’s super simple.

Cherry-Cranberry Sauce

* 1 bag (12oz) fresh cranberries
* 1/3 cup dried cherries – (I usually use a bit more than this)
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 cup water
* 2 tablespoons orange marmalade – (rounded tbsp)

1. Gather IngredientsCranberry Ingredients

2. In 3-quart saucepan, mix cranberries, cherries, sugar, and water. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer uncovered 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cranberries have popped open. Cranberries Boiling

3. Spoon sauce into serving dish. Cover; refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving. I usually make this the day ahead, since you can really make this several days in advanced.

Tip: Fresh cranberries should be bright red and shiny; discard any that are shriveled or discolored. Also, watch for little stems.
